Born in Raabs/Thaya Austria in 1980, Florian Schmidt now lives and works in Vienna. Schmidt uses basic geometric shapes to create highly sculptural paintings. By covering these shapes with silicon, vinyl, lacquer, cardboard, and wire, Schmidt exposes and emphasizes their underlying form and structure. Schmidt often recycles the scraps of previous works to create the next one, creating a smooth progression through his body of work which highlights his process.
